Financial Requests & Donating

After two months of lost income and financial struggles due to COVID-19, we know folks in Chicago are more vulnerable and the financial need even greater than ever. We also know essential workers are facing additional hardships due to City of Chicago transit and downtown shutdowns. This is an attempt to help. Any Chicago resident in dire financial need may apply.

This mutual aid network works person-to-person - we're compiling requests and matching them with donors to the extent possible. Donors will send funds directly to requesters via the payment app of their choice; the organizers of this network will not have any interaction with funds.

We do not have the capacity to vet requests. Thus all requests and donations here are working on the honor system. To borrow language from the COVID-19 Mutual Aid Fund for LGBTQI+ BIPOC Folks: "We agree with adrienne maree brown who quotes Lao Tzu... 'If you do not trust the people, they will become untrustworthy.' We are choosing to trust the people."

Due to an overwhelming number of requests, we had to close the request form on 8/29/20.
If you're able to provide financial assistance, please help your neighbors. The need is huge.
